About Me

Hello! My name is Rhonda and I am married to a wonderful man, Michael. I can say he is truly my best friend. We were married on April 12, 2008. He has a son (my step-son), Josh who is 15 years old. We are blessed with such wonderful family and friends. We created this blog so that we could post activities and pictures about us. We look forward to sharing these things with you. We had a sweet baby girl, Ella Kate, on June 19, 2012.

33 Weeks (actually 33 weeks 6 days)

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along:  33 weeks (actually 33 weeks 6 days)

What’s developing:   Ella Kate is supposed to be weighing a little over 4 pounds this week (like a large pineapple) and should be over 17 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She is rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look.

Her skeleton is hardening.  The bones in her skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap for the birth process.

Size of baby:  Ella Kate should weigh about the same as a large pineapple.

Total Weight Gain/Loss:   Gained 17.6 pounds total so far as of last Tuesday at OB appointment.

Clothes:   Maternity jeans/capris/shorts and maternity tops.   Still in my regular scrubs pants (moved up one size), but all wearing maternity tops.

Gender:  It's a GIRL!!!

Movement: She's an active little thing, she continues to move all the time and now I can see my entire belly move when she decides to be very active.  She is very active in the evening. I can definitely tell when she has the hiccups too.

Sleep: Waking up about twice per night to use the bathroom.

What I miss:  Jersey Mikes subs

Cravings:  The usual... chocolate milk.

Symptoms:  Heartburn.  Both ankles are continuing to swell.  I have been trying to keep my feet up as much as possible.  Also had a trace of protein in my urine at my OB appointment last week.

We spent a few days at the beach this past weekend and I spent most of the time with my feet up.
This is how I spent most of my time... feet up!

Coming up this week:  No appointments this coming up week, next OB appointment June 5th.  Appointment last Tuesday went okay.  Continue on is all they said... ultrasound at 36 weeks to check her presentation.

Mike went back to work tonight after his 13 week recovery period from open heart surgery.  Praise the Lord!!!  Still continue to remember us in your prayers.

32 Weeks!

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along:  32 weeks

What’s developing:   Ella Kate is supposed to be weighing about 3.75 pounds this week (like a large jicama, a sweet root that looks like a turnip) and measures over 16.7 inches from the top of her head to her heels.  She is taking a lot of space in my uterus.  I should be gaining about 1 pound per week and roughly half of that goes to her.  She will gain 1/3 to 1/2 of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb.

She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least some peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth.

Size of baby:  Ella Kate should weigh about the same a large jicama, a sweet root that looks like a turnip.

Total Weight Gain/Loss:   I weighed this morning and according to my scale here at home I haven't gained any since my last OB appointment?!?!  We will see on Tuesday when I go back for a routine check.

Sleep: Waking up about twice per night to use the bathroom.

What I miss:  Jersey Mikes subs

Cravings:  Chocolate milk of course!!! :)

Symptoms:  Still having occasional heartburn, but is usually relieved by Tums.  Both feet are swelling daily.  They aren't really going back down to normal at night either.  I am trying to keep them propped as much as I can.  Blood pressure  was good and urine had no protein at last OB appointment so I am good right now the midwife says.

Coming up this week:  Routine OB appointment Tuesday (starting 2 week checks this week).

31 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along:  31 weeks

What’s developing:   Ella Kate is supposed to be weighing about 3.3 pounds this week (like 4 navel oranges) and measures over 16 inches from the top of her head to her heels.  She is about to head into a growth spurt.  She can now turn her head from side to side.  Her arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath her skin.

All of her kicks and somersaults are a sign of an active healthy baby!!! :)

Size of baby:  Ella Kate should weigh about the same 4 navel  oranges.

Total Weight Gain/Loss:   Haven't weighed since last week at the OB office.

Clothes:   Maternity jeans/capris/shorts and maternity tops.   Still in my regular scrubs pants (moved up one size), but all wearing maternity tops.

Gender:  It's a GIRL!!!

Movement: She's an active little thing, she continues to move all the time and I have definitely felt the "hiccups". :-)

Sleep: Waking up about twice per night to use the bathroom.

What I miss:  Jersey Mikes subs

Cravings:  Chocolate milk craving continues.  Had a taste for doughnuts at the end of last week and it's ice cream this week.

Symptoms:  Still having occasional heartburn, but is usually relieved by Tums.

Best Moment this week:  We enjoyed spending mother's day with our moms yesterday.  I was able to also spend time with my Nan (my grandma) yesterday.  Mike and I are both blessed to have wonderful mothers.

30 Weeks!

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along:  30 weeks

What’s developing:   Ella Kate is supposed to be weighing about 3 pounds this week (like a head of cabbage) and about 15.7 inches from the top of her head to her heels.  At the 4-D ultrasound they felt she was a bit bigger than that...  measured at 67th percentile.

She now has a pint and a half of amniotic fluid that surrounds her, but this will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in my uterus.

Her eyesight is continuing to develop.  Even after birth, she will keep her little eyes closed for a good part of the day.  She will respond to changes in light, but will only have 20/400 vision and only be able to make out objects a few inches from her face.

Size of baby:  Ella Kate should weigh about the same as a head of cabbage.

Total Weight Gain/Loss:   Weighed this week and have gained approximately 2.2 pounds since last OB appointment 4 weeks ago.

Clothes:   Maternity jeans/capris/shorts and maternity tops.   Still in my regular scrubs pants (moved up one size), but all wearing maternity tops.

Gender:  It's a GIRL!!!

Movement: She's an active little thing, she continues to move all the time! :-)

Sleep: Waking up about twice per night to use the bathroom.

What I miss:  Jersey Mikes subs

Cravings:  Chocolate milk and gummy bears (this week).

Symptoms:  Still having occasional heartburn, but is usually relieved by Tums.

Best Moment this week:  We had both sides of our families give us baby showers this weekend.  Ella received some very nice things that will be put to good use.  She will love all her gifts.  We are very blessed to have such good families and friends.  We also took a few maternity pics this weekend.

Giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ... ~Ephesians 5:20

Coming up this week: OB appointment Tuesday, May 8th.
