About Me

Hello! My name is Rhonda and I am married to a wonderful man, Michael. I can say he is truly my best friend. We were married on April 12, 2008. He has a son (my step-son), Josh who is 15 years old. We are blessed with such wonderful family and friends. We created this blog so that we could post activities and pictures about us. We look forward to sharing these things with you. We had a sweet baby girl, Ella Kate, on June 19, 2012.

29 Weeks!

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along:  29 weeks

What’s developing:   Ella Kate is supposed to be weighing about 2.5 pounds this week (like a butternut squash) and is a bit over 15 inches from the top of her head to her heels.  We did find out on Wednesday that she is at the 67th percentile for her growth and is weighing approximately 3lbs 4oz.

Her muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and her head is growing bigger to make room for her developing brain.  Her bones are soaking up lots of calcium.  During this trimester about 250mg of calcium are deposited in her hardening skeleton each day.

Size of baby:  Ella Kate should weigh about the same as a butternut squash.

Total Weight Gain/Loss:   Haven't weighed since last OB appointment :-/

Clothes:   Maternity jeans/capris/shorts and maternity tops.   Still in my regular scrubs pants (moved up one size), but all wearing maternity tops.

Gender:  It's a GIRL!!!

Movement: She's an active little thing, she continues to move all the time! :-)

Sleep: Waking up about twice per night to use the bathroom.

What I miss:  Jersey Mikes subs

Cravings:  Chocolate milk again (guess all this milk is paying off for her bones and increase calcium need).

Symptoms:  Still having heartburn, but is usually relieved by Tums.

Best Moment this week:  We had our 4-D ultrasound on Wednesday and that was simply AMAZING. She is still breech and the first image we saw of Ella was her legs and arms in front of her face, yep that's right... all 4 extremities. She finally cooperated and we were able to see her and all her little facial features... especially those chubby cheeks!!!

Coming up this week: I am super excited because we have 2 showers coming up this weekend... Saturday, my family is hosting one and on Sunday, Mike's family is hosting one.  We are very blessed to have such great family and friends.

28 Weeks... 3rd TRIMESTER!!!

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along:  28 weeks

What’s developing:   Ella Kate weighs about 2 1/4 pounds this week (like a Chinese cabbage) and is about 14.8 inches long from the top of her head to her heels.  She can now blink her eyes, which now have lashes. With her increasingly developed eyesight, she may be able to see the light that filters in through the womb.  She is continuing to develop billion of neurons in her brain and she is adding more body fat in preparation for life outside in the world.

Size of baby:  Ella Kate weighs about the same as a Chinese cabbage.

Total Weight Gain/Loss:   Didn't weigh this week.

Clothes:   Maternity jeans/capris and maternity tops.   Still in my regular scrubs pants, but all wearing maternity tops.

Gender:  It's a GIRL!!!

Movement: She's an active little thing, she continues to move all the time! :-)

Sleep: Waking 2-3 times per night to use the bathroom.

What I miss:  Jersey Mikes subs

Cravings:  Nothing in particular this week

Symptoms:  The heartburn continues but is relieved by Tums usually.

Best Moment this week:  We had a little vacation/babymoon this week to Disney.  We really enjoyed just relaxing, eating, and walking around.  When you are 28 weeks pregnant and a "heart patient", you really can't ride any thrill rides so we chose to ride the "kiddie" rides.  We were just scoping out the scene for when we take Ella back. :-)

Coming up this week:  4-D Ultrasound on Wednesday, we are really excited and hope we get some good images of little Miss Ella.

27 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along:  27 weeks

What’s developing:   Ella Kate weighs about 2 pounds this week (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14.5 inches long with legs extended.  She is sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her little eyes, and maybe even sucking on her fingers/thumb.  She may be having tiny rhythmic movements, the hiccups which are common now.  She has more brain tissue developing making the brain very active.   The lungs are still immature, but they would be capable of functioning if she were born now... with lots of medical help.

Size of baby:  Ella Kate weighs about the same as a head of cauliflower.

Total Weight Gain/Loss:   Weighed at OB appointment last Tuesday and have gained a total of 13 pounds so far... whew!!!

Clothes:   Maternity jeans/capris and maternity tops.   Still in my regular scrubs pants, but all wearing maternity tops.

Gender:  It's a GIRL!!!

Movement: She's an active little thing, she moves all the time! :-)

Sleep: Waking 2-3 times per night to use the bathroom.

What I miss:  Jersey Mikes subs

Cravings:  Chocolate milk and snow cones (I finally found a snow cone).

Symptoms:  Heartburn that is relieved by Tums usually.

Best Moment this week:  We went to the OB last Tuesday, 4-10-12 and everything checked out okay.  We did find out that little Ms. Ella is breech as of right now, so we are hoping that she will turn on her own in the coming weeks.  I also had my 1-hour glucose test which I failed and had to do the 3-hour glucose test on Friday.  I am "borderline" for gestational diabetes, but they are not labeling me with it.  They are just going to continue to monitor my urine for glucose.

We will be taking a little vacation/babymoon to Disney this week so we will post pictures soon!!!  This is much needed time away for both of us.

26 Weeks!

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along:  26 weeks

What’s developing:   Ella Kate now measures approximately 14 inches from head to heel, the length of an English hothouse cucumber.  Her weight is about 1 2/3  pounds.  The network of nerves in her ears is better developed and more sensitive than before.  She is inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid.  These so called breathing movements are essential for the development of the lungs.  These are also good practices when she is born and takes her first gulp of air.

Size of baby:  Ella Kate is the length of an English hothouse cucumber.
Total Weight Gain/Loss:   Didn't weigh this week!

It's getting harder to get comfortable.

What I miss:  Jersey Mikes subs

Cravings:  Chocolate milk and McAlister's baked potato.  Craving a snow cone, but can't seem to find any!!!

Symptoms:  Heartburn that is relieved by Tums sometimes.

Best Moment this week:  Uncomplicated pregnancy so far, feel very blessed!!!
We had a mini-vacation to Myrtle Beach this weekend with Mom & Curtis, so we took this week's pictures on the beach.

One more thing... Mike & Josh made Ella Kate some book ends this week to hold her books!!!

25 Weeks!

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along:  25 weeks

What’s developing:   Ella Kate now measures approximately 13.5 inches from head to heel.  Her weight is about 1.5 pounds, the average weight of a rutabaga.  She is beginning to exchange that long, lean look for some baby fat.  As this occurs, wrinkled skin will smooth out and she will start to look more and more like a newborn.  She is growing more hair... if you could see it, you could discern the color and texture.  :)

Size of baby:  Ella Kate is the average weight of a rutabaga.

Total Weight Gain/Loss:   Gained about 3.5 pounds since last OB appointment 4 weeks ago... :-/

Clothes:   Maternity jeans/capris and maternity tops.   Still in my regular scrubs pants, but mostly wearing maternity tops with them.

Gender:  It's a GIRL!!!

Movement: She's an active little thing.  Saw my stomach actually move this week, that was weird.

Sleep: Waking 2-3 times per night to use the bathroom.  It's getting harder to get comfortable.

What I miss:  Jersey Mikes subs

Cravings:  Chocolate milk and Cookie Crisp cereal!

Symptoms:  Heartburn that is relieved by Tums sometimes.

Best Moment this week:  A healthy pregnancy so far, I can't complain about anything.  I have been very blessed.

Mike went back to the doctor this past week for his surgery follow-up and got a great report.  He still has some recovering to do, but he is getting back to normal slowly, but surely.
